A ProfileOnReverend Doctor Ronald S. LaurentReverend Doctor Ronald S. Laurent is a native of Pine Bluff. He is a graduate of Watson Chapel High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He received a Masters of Education Degree in Educational Administrational and Supervision from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.Dr. Laurent is a twenty-year Air Force veteran who retired September 1, 1991. He considers himself an advocate for children. He has organized and implemented many youth programs in Pine Bluff. He has been an elementary teacher, a director of elementary services, an alternative education coordinator, an assistant superintendent and a superintendent. He is currently the principal at First Ward School in the Pine Bluff School District.He is a member of the St. Peter’s Rock MBC at Dumas, Arkansas. Dr. Laurent has served as an Associate Minister. He is a former superintendent of Sunday School, a former Sunday School Teacher and Youth Director. Dr. Laurent is a member of many professional, academic and fraternal organizations. He is also a life member of the NAACP.Dr. Laurent places high value on Christian Education. He has completed the Pastor’s Alternative Certification Program, all four (4) Phases of the Certificate of Progress Program through the Sunday School Publishing Board’s (SSPB) Christian Education Department and the Deans and Presidents Special Project Seminar through the National Baptist Convention’s Congress of Christian Education. Dr. Laurent is certified through the SSPB Christian Education Department to teach Christian Education Courses at the local, district, state or national level. Dr. Laurent is a certified Dean and serves as Dean for the Regular Arkansas Congress of Christian Education. Dr. Laurent is also an instructor in the Deans and Presidents Seminar for the National Baptist Convention’s Congress of Christian Education. He is active in all aspects of district, state and national work. Dr. Laurent has earned a Doctor of Theology Degree from Gospel Ministries Outreach Theological Institute. Dr. Laurent is currently the pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church in Holly Grove, ArkansasDr. Laurent and his wife, Cathryn have two adult children-Ronald (Nicolette) and Erica (Aaron) and two grandsons-Ashton and Chandler and a granddaughter-Mackenzie
